IES Charlotte is proud to present the fifth course of a five part series focusing on lighting controls. Beatrice Witzgall will bring us up to speed on the benefits and cost efficiencies of internet based and mobile-enabled lighting controls.


 Course Summary:

Mobile's Role in the Internet of Things can be leveraged to further shape and transform the way we interact with and experience smart lighting. With the increasing popularity of "smart" devices -- from smartphones to smart cards to smart homes -- connecting everyday devices to the Internet, also known as the Internet of Things (IoT), is becoming commonplace.  In this session, we will discuss mobile's role in the Internet of Things and how mobile devices can be used to further shape and transform the way we interact with and experience lighting.  One of the IoT's biggest innovators within the lighting industry, Witzgall will share her insight on the benefits and cost efficiencies of mobile-enabled lighting controls.

  • Learn how the lighting industry is affected by the Internet of Things, particularly how the rise of personal mobile devices are impacting the way we interact with and control lighting.

Beatrice Witzgall

CEO and Founder of LumiFi
Beatrice Witzgall, CEO and founder of LumiFi, is an accomplished, award-winning lighting designer with more than 20 years of global experience. She has worked on countless lighting design projects alongside renowned architects including Frank Gehry and Steven Holl. Having worked as a German trained architect and graphic design and digital media teacher, Beatrice is driven by how technology and light transforms and influences a space and how people interact with it. Her primary focus is hospitality, as well as SuperYacht projects, but she has also worked on numerous residential, commercial and institutional projects. In 2010, Beatrice received the prestigious Lumen Award for her contribution to the Lincoln Center - Alice Tully Hall & Juilliard School. She is currently working on LumiFi, Inc. a smart lighting software for the home consumer and hospitality industry.
